Electrophysiology Program Launches at Piedmont Cartersville
Cartersville, Ga. – Cardiovascular services at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center have grown in size and scope, along with the hospital, since its inception. In addition to earning multiple achievement awards, the department has also recently launched an electrophysiology program to the many services it offers.
“Electrophysiology is the study of heart rhythm disorders. We take care of patients who have heart rates that are too fast or too slow by putting in devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators,” said Carlos Calle-Muller, M.D., electrophysiologist.
Previously, if a person in the community needed a device implanted, they would likely have had to travel 30 minutes or more to Atlanta for the procedure. It is obviously much less stressful to have these services done close to home, where a patient can have their family close by and they have their own doctors to take care of them before and after the procedure.
“I’m proud to join Heart and Vascular Care – Cartersville and offer this treatment option to patients in this community and keep care close to home,” said Dr. Calle-Muller.
Dr. Calle-Muller is a board-certified electrophysiologist who specializes in implantation of leadless pacemakers, subcutaneous implantable defibrillators, ablation of simple and complex heart arrhythmias. He recently joined the Heart and Vascular Care center at the Joe Frank Harris location and accepts new patients.
