Collecting seashells on the beaches of Florida can be fun, but did you know you can collect fossils all across the state? Since Florida was once completely covered by ocean, many fossils can still be found on land! Tellus Science Museum recently acquired two donations that contained hundreds of fossil invertebrate species from Sarasota, Florida. Curator Ryan Roney will share the stories that these fossils tell – what was the environment like millions of years ago, which species went extinct, which species are still around today, and who hunted whom.
