    Job Summary

    This position will coordinate and manage the GHC Career Services to assist all student, alumni, faculty, and employer clients in the development of career education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment opportunities commensurate with formal academic pursuits. The position will continually expand the client/user base and scope of services to ensure the widest array of services possible to the broadest mix of academic and corporate clients.

    Responsibilities

    Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.

    Career Advising:

    • Provides one-on-one career counseling to students, assisting them in developing career goals, job search strategies, resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.
    • Conducts workshops and seminars (Lunch & Learn / Chat & Chew) on various career-related topics, such as resume writing, job searching, interviewing techniques, and professional etiquette.
    • Utilizes career assessment tools to help students identify their interests, strengths, and career options.

    Internship Program Management:

    • Oversees and manages internship programs ensuring a diverse array of opportunities across different fields of study.
    • Develops new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni.
    • Develops relationships with local, regional, and national employers through commerce organizations (Chamber of Commerce, etc.) to secure internship placement for students.
    • Coordinates with faculty to integrate internship opportunities with academic programs and ensure the internships meet educational objectives.
    • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of internship programs and collects feedback from academic deans/chairs, students and employers to continuously improve offerings.

    Employer Relations:

    • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with employers to facilitate recruitment activities on campus, such as career fairs, information sessions, and on-campus interviews.
    • Develops and implements strategies to engage employers and increase the number of job and internship opportunities available to students in conjunction with using Handshake and Stepping Blocks software.

    Student Engagement:

    • Promotes career services and internship opportunities through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and campus events.
    • Assists students in navigating online career platforms and resources provided by the Career Services office.
    • Encourages and supports student participation in career development activities and internships.

    Data Management and Reporting:

    • Maintains accurate records of student interactions, job placements, and internship assignments using career services management software.
    • Analyzes data to identify trends, measure outcomes, and report on the effectiveness of career services and internship programs.
    • Prepares reports for internal and external stakeholders, including accreditation bodies, demonstrating the impact of career services on student success.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study in Human Resources, Education, Counseling, or a related field
    • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in career services, human resources, or a related field with a focus in internship
    • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
    • Master's degree preferred

    Proposed Salary

    $40,000 - $45,000 annually
