Cartersville Downtown Development Authority Announces September Merchant of the Month
CARTERSVILLE - Cartersville Downtown Development Authority announces one of the premier restaurants of downtown Cartersville as their Merchant of the Month for September – The City Cellar. This restaurant and full service bar offers a casual, comfortable and low-lit atmosphere with an extensive menu including sandwiches, salads, entrees and desserts. Located in downtown Cartersville, Georgia, The City Cellar Restaurant has lunch specials that are only $8.00, including a drink. The City Cellar also offers amazing dinner specials.
At The City Cellar, located at 110 South Museum Drive in historic downtown Cartersville, owner Bob Smith and his staff strive to serve the freshest foods and all of the food is prepared to order. The City Cellar has a unique southern cuisine with a cultural twist. Every day you can find their chalkboard special to keep guests intrigued. “Come in and try the signature dish, the Shrimp and Grits, and you will never forget this untraditional version,” states Smith. You can get a sample of this signature dish during the upcoming “Sample Your City,” which will take place at downtown restaurants on October 3rd & 4th from 2 PM – 7 PM.
Downtown Development Authority Manager Tara Currier commented on the upcoming culinary event. “We went around and talked to the downtown restaurants last year about doing something a little different from Taste of Cartersville that would be more convenient for the restaurants. It was Bob Smith that said the goal was to get people in the restaurants and experience the versatility of the eating establishments that downtown has to offer. So he basically planted the seed for Sample Your City.”
Another thing The City Cellar is known for is fried green tomatoes. At the recent Tomato Festival held at the downtown Farmer’s Market, The City Cellar graciously donated this delicacy for everyone to try. A recent review on TripaAdvisor.com found the following comment from a customer: “I was in downtown Cartersville for the Farmer's Market Tomato Festival and was offered fried green tomatoes from the City Cellar & Loft.............OMG!!!!! They were indeed delicious (and I must admit being from the South I know fried green tomatoes). They were so crispy, a little spicy and the basil mayo topping was incredible. And that bruschetta highlighting in-season tomatoes was the perfect touch! I have eaten many times at the City Cellar & Loft but must say I was very impressed with the flavor of this southern staple and with the way they came out and supported the local growers and gave back to their community by doing this. Everyone enjoyed this and I know I will be back in the City Cellar and Loft to devour their delicious menu.......... The on-site cooking of these appetizers was something to watch - the propane grill and how they dipped these southern jewels into an amazing batter and fried to perfection! Hats off to City Cellar & Loft!!!! You done good..........”
