
Piedmont Cartersville Welcomes Renowned Radiation Oncologist Shannon Kahn, M.D.
Cartersville, GA – Piedmont Cartersville is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Shannon Kahn to our esteemed team of medical professionals. Dr. Kahn joins us as a radiation oncologist, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in caring for many types of cancer patients.
Dr. Kahn possesses an impressive educational background. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Furthermore, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency in Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Kahn is highly skilled in caring for patients with various cancers, including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, central nervous system, genitourinary, thoracic, lymphomatous, or skin cancers. She is particularly interested in advanced radiation therapies, such as Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Brain Radiation Therapy, and High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kahn has held several prestigious positions, including Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, Staff Radiation Oncologist at The Emory Clinic, Emory Healthcare, Winship Cancer Institute, and Director of the Emory Saint Joseph’s Gamma Knife Center. She has also served as the Medical and Radiation Oncology Section Chief at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital and as Vice Chair for Outreach/Collaboration in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute.

Dr. Kahn has been recognized for her excellence in the field with numerous awards, including being named one of Atlanta's Best Doctors by Atlanta Magazine from 2018 to 2024, receiving the Hidden Gem Award for Service Excellence from Emory University School of Medicine in 2019, and being honored as a Provider of Excellence by Emory School of Medicine in 2023. She was also recognized as a Castle Connolly "Top Doctor" from 2017 to 2024.
Outside her professional commitments, Dr. Kahn enjoys playing tennis, spending time by the ocean, and traveling.
