    Volunteers Needed: Cartersville Medical Center
by Jan Wardell, Auxiliary Volunteer President

Volunteers are a wonderful group of people who love to help. Several departments are assisted by the Volunteer staff.

In the Out Patient Department, the Volunteers assist the nursing staff by tracking each patient and their family, through the process and then helping them from the department to their vehicles.

In the Mother Baby Department, the Volunteers work closely with the nursing staff to assist them with the comfort of the new mothers.

The Volunteers at the Front Desk, assist visitors coming into the hospital who need to locate family members who are patients. Volunteers also deliver flowers and mail to patients. Patients who are going home from the hospital are assisted by the Volunteers who bring them from their room, via a wheelchair, to their waiting family at the hospital entrance. The Front Desk Volunteers also deliver baby bows sent to new Moms by their doctors. It is a wonderful memento for the family.

Volunteers also assist the nurses in the Emergency Room, at the receiving desk.

The hospital also has a Gift Shop, where the Volunteers sell a wide variety of gifts which visitors can purchase. Flowers, assorted gifts, balloons, baby items, purses, jewelry and other things always seem to bring a smile to the face of the patients.
